Jr. High Travel Club

Possible Travel Club for the 2019/20 School Year

June 1/19 - We have started the process to organize a Junior High Travel Club and plan a trip to the Canadian Maritimes for the upcoming school year, tentatively in the spring of 2020. Students will travel for approximately one week with teacher supervisors and a travel guide from EF Tours to experience New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Our next step is to determine interest from parents and students. We will be holding a family information session on June 18th in the SAA Learning Commons at 6:30pm. Come and find out more details (flights, accommodations, possible itinerary, costs) about this exciting opportunity. A trip like this would cost approximately $2800 to $3300 per student depending on final itinerary. The tentative travel date being considered is May 17 - 24. Twenty students would be required in order for the trip to move forward. All trips outside of Alberta require tentative approval from the Superintendent or designate six months in advance of the trip and require final approval two months before the intended date of the Field Trip.

Hello Junior High Student Parents,

We have finalized plans for our SAA Travel Club for the 2019/20 school year. We are keen to share some of the details with you and would appreciate your feedback! Our travel club will consist of monthly meetings to learn more about global citizenship, travel, the East Coast of Canada and team building experiences. In addition, we hope to venture off to the Maritimes together!

We would love to offer our SAA Junior High Students a 7 day trip to the East Coast at the end of May 2020 and have consulted Educational Tours to be our provider. We will need a minimum of 20 travellers to enrol to make this trip a reality. There is a maximum cost of approx. $3200.00. Parents are welcome to join us but please note, your trip will cost about $200.00 more than a student traveller.

Educational Tours put together a great presentation for us to learn more about what is included with the tour. Please check it out HERE. Additional discounts will be applied to the first 4 who enrol ($50.00), all who enrol before September 15th, 2019 ($150.00) and even further price reductions may occur with fundraising efforts next Fall and Winter. You will find enrolment information on the last sheet. There is a non-refundable $199.00 deposit that will be needed to secure your child's spot. We'd like to make sure we have our 20 participants before we have anyone enrol to ensure families don't lose their non-refundable deposits!

Please email Nadine Trenchard (natrenchard@gsacd.ab.ca) to confirm your intentions to have your child participate by September 10th, 2019. We will be hosting another parent information session on Thursday, September 5th, 2019. Thanks so much!
